I am thinking of postponing the wedding date!
For two seemingly contradicting reasons!
1. There’s too many things to do even though we have at least18months.
2. I am enjoying this phase very much and would like to prolong it! Haha!

Entering 2011 – Counting Down

As we enter our 7th year, there is nothing more anticipated and scarier than the arrival of the big day.

We used to answer those concern with “in two years time”. But as of today, we will be answering “next year”.

I am very blissful as we started planning but I am also experiencing some kind of pre-marital fear! haha!

I hope you guys are as excited too:) Start saving up, start giving us the contacts! And Vin, the rule still stands. SGD600 will allow you to come in singlet and shorts.

But I think you guys should dressed super formal, because you guys are family…:)

p/s my ring has yet to be delivered but the day must go as planned. Coz in any case, i know it will come, the fun is in trying to outwit me…:)

In-Laws

Daddy was talking to jian and found out that his mum had a little accident and got her leg injured.

And to daddy’s horror, I haven been to visit aunty. So he made me promise to visit aunty and bring stuff with me. He was like , “going to become people’s daughter-in-law soon and this kind of thing still need me to teach you!”

Well, it was indeed overlook on my part because of camp and bash. And I have since dutifully went over with birdnest. (yes, the non expensive kind but still!)

But I am more horrified at the expectations placed on me. Jian knows fully well the kind of woman he is going to marry. Because he is educated and loving, he does not have such expectations on me. But I dare not think about what the older generation thinks.

And no, I am not going to not love my in-laws, just that I need a lot more understandings as I too am educated and hence a mind of my own, spoilt by the parents and bf, have many other committments and love to have way too much fun:(

Few weeks back, our Caesar turned and faced me with a serious look.

J: D, it is ok if I buy the ring, it will still cost $________ but it is not from Tiffany & Co? (nervously he continued) Coz I really think it is not worth the money to buy the branding. It will still be that amount but I think can get better quality one if it’s not Tiffany’s.

L: I will be very angry if you buy that! It is ridiculous to spend that amount!

J: You mean no need to spend that amount?! Huh! Then I can buy now already leh!

My dear Caesar, I dunnoe what gave you that impression that I need a ring of such exorbitant amount. (too much joking maybe?) I know that it is not outside of your means to be able to save up to that amount. I know too that there will be some man out there who thinks nothing about the amount you had in your heart. But, my dear, I am not such a woman. I won’t bear to see that you have to forgo all your comfort to get me that ring. Yes, if you are a rich man, I would expect something of greater cost. But since I chose you, my middle class man, I will settle for a little carat on my ring finger. The ring signifies yours and my committmment. It reassures me of your love and as such I will be able to witstand voices of girls exclaiming how little the ring is, it doesn’t matter…:)

And you know what? When I found out how you have been sillily trying to save the amount to buy a stone, I would have said yes there and then…:)

And I saw how she recorded all the food she and James had.

And I remember, aww.. how wonderful it was when one first fall in love…:)

Marriage not Wedding

My Caesar is having an interview now while I’m typing this entry. I finally found out why our friend is so picky about the jobs he is applying and applying for many jobs which we could not understand why. I also finally found out why our friend refuse to give up on his tuition assignments (and taking up new ones) despite me telling him repeatedly that it is impossible, he can’t cope.

After my relentless scolding and constant sarcasm about his choice of jobs, our friend finally said: it is because I really want to marry you soon.

And you could imagine my shame.

I didn’t tell him but I am slowly begin to understand or grow up you could say. I have slowly come to understand that it is not the wedding that matters but the marriage. When I was younger, I wanted that lavish wedding. The beautiful hall, the rich banquet, the gowns and the whole works. But I have come to realize my reason for wanting them is vanity. Because I know us girls determine how blissful the bride is by the size of the wedding and the ring. We all wanted to be the envy of everyone. But as I grow older, I desire so much more for a long lasting and blissful marriage than the wedding. Because I know people have wonderful weddings but not marriages and I don’t want to be one of them.

A wonderful wedding is good to have, it is wonderful memory and I would want it if we could afford it. But no, I don’t think I’ll live in regrets if I didn’t have the million dollars wedding.

I chose him because he loves God not because he is rich. So I’ll settle for whatever comes :)
